ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Kate Freeman, MSN, NP
Structured prevention grounded in cardiovascular medicine.
AthenaVita™ was built from years spent working in cardiovascular medicine—watching women navigate healthcare systems where symptoms were often minimized, risk was assessed in isolation, and meaningful physiologic change was not recognized early enough.
Many women are told they are “fine” while simultaneously feeling that something has changed—body composition no longer responds the way it once did. Sleep becomes less restorative. Energy feels harder to sustain. Recovery takes longer.
Yet traditional markers often remain within range, creating the impression that nothing is wrong.
By the time disease becomes clinically apparent, those patterns have developing quietly for years.
AthenaVita was created to recognize those shifts earlier—and to provide women with a more complete understanding of the relationship between metabolism, menopause, and long-term cardiovascular health—creating an opportunity for more intentional prevention before disease becomes the catalyst for action.
Clinical Background
Kate Freeman is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with more than a decade of experience in cardiovascular medicine, including advanced specialization in electrophysiology.
Her clinical experience spans cardiovascular risk assessment, arrhythmia management, device therapy, and longitudinal patient care—providing a unique perspective on how cardiometabolic risk develops long before disease becomes clinically apparent.
That perspective became the foundation for AthenaVita's prevention-focused approach to women's health.
The AthenaVita Philosophy
A trajectory-based approach to prevention.
AthenaVita™ focuses on recognizing physiologic shifts earlier—before disease becomes clinically obvious. The goal is not simply symptom management or isolated lab interpretation. The goal is earlier recognition of physiologic shifts that influence long-term cardiometabolic health.
-
We operate differently than traditional healthcare:
Trajectory is prioritized over static values. Where you're headed matters more than where you are today.
Sex-specific factors are central, not peripheral. Reproductive history and menopause timing drive risk assessment.
Intervention is proactive and structured. Every recommendation is tied to measurable physiologic targets.
The goal is not short-term optimization. The goal is long-term risk reduction.
-
AthenaVita is anchored in guidelines from the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, and The Menopause Society.
We emphasize risk, physiology, and outcomes—not optimization language or unproven protocols.
This is not functional medicine. This is not wellness. This is rigorous, cardiology-informed prevention care.
The MRS PREVENT™
Framework
AthenaVita Clinical™ is guided by the proprietary MRS PREVENT™ framework—a structured model integrating reproductive history, cardiometabolic risk, body composition, symptom patterns, lifestyle physiology, and longitudinal trajectory assessment.
